Returning to Study
Whether you’re returning to study after a break or embarking on your first academic journey, we’re here for you every step of the way. Our friendly team of Regional Education Leaders, Kaiako, and Pouako, located in 11 our Education Centres across the motu, are dedicated to supporting not only your studies, but also your mental and physical well-being. We’re also here to empower you to stay connected to your identity, culture, and language.
At Te Rito Maioha, we believe that true success is about more than just academics. That’s why our student services team is committed to ensuring you not only gain your qualification, but also thrive personally and culturally throughout your journey. It’s this commitment that leads 98% of our students to recommend Te Rito Maioha.
To help you connect with your new fellow tauira and kaiako, we hold an Orientation Day at your local takiwā ako. There you’ll meet the friendly team and learn the important ins and outs of studying online and how we will support all aspects of your learning journey with us.
As well as Orientation Days, we run virtual ‘Ready Set Study’ workshops at the start of each semester for all new students. These workshops prepare you for the start of your programme where you will be shown how to use the online learning systems, student portal, and online library.
As a bicultural organisation, manaakitanga - showing respect, care, and connection, is at the heart of everything we do. Our current and former students often share how our lecturers provide support from day one. You’re never just a number to us; our lecturers will know your name, understand your unique journey, and be dedicated to supporting you throughout.
But don’t just take our word for it - listen to what our students have to say.
Growing my confidence and becoming a qualified ECE teacher
“I think it’s worth emphasising that the support provided to me was also made to all the students. I could see my confidence, and that of my classmates growing.”
