Stories do more than entertain. They spark imagination, nurture language, strengthen identity, build relationships, and create meaningful opportunities for learning. Together, we’ll explore how storytelling can bring learning to life and support rich, responsive teaching practice in Aotearoa New Zealand.

This hands-on session will include practical ideas, collaborative activities, and inspiring examples that you can take straight back to your setting. Whether you love sharing picture books, weaving puuraakau into your programme, encouraging children’s own storytelling, or bringing stories alive through music, movement, and play, there’s something here for everyone.

Please bring an item of kai if you would like to join us for lunch from 12.30- 1.00pm.

Expect to:

  • Explore the many ways storytelling supports children’s learning and development
  • Discover creative and culturally responsive storytelling approaches
  • Share ideas and experiences with colleagues
  • Gather practical strategies to inspire curiosity, connection, and engagement
  • Leave with fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm for the stories we tell and the stories children share with us

Bring your curiosity, your creativity, and your favourite storytelling memories for a morning of learning, laughter, and connection.
