The session recognizes that successful transitions require a coordinated effort between educators in both settings. Participants will explore the challenges that children and families may face during the transition period and learn effective strategies to support them.

The session will also provide opportunities for early childhood and primary school teachers to engage in dialogue and share their experiences and knowledge. By the end of the session, participants will have gained a better understanding of each other’s roles and responsibilities and developed a shared vision for supporting children’s transitions to primary school.

Through this series of workshops participants will:

  • Develop strategies for working collaboratively across education settings.

  • Explore current challenges faced by whānau and tamariki during the transition period and learn effective strategies to support them.

  • Share experiences and knowledge based on each learning context.

  • Deepen your understanding of what a culturally inclusive pathway looks when supporting children’s transitions to primary school.
