Meet our passionate lecturers, learn about the Aperfield Montessori Diploma and our Montessori focussed Master of Education courses.
You’ll have the opportunity to explore course content and learn how each programme supports your professional growth as a Montessori kaiarahi.
This evening will take an information evening format, with the opportunity to hear a short presentation at 6 pm. Lecturers will be available for support, questions and kōrero about your options between 5 and 7 pm.
Whether you’re just beginning your Montessori journey or ready to take the next step, we’ll guide you through the application process, answer your questions, and introduce you to the Aperfield Montessori Trust Scholarship available to support your study.

This information evening is designed for untrained kaiako wanting to begin working with tamariki in Montessori ECE settings AND for trained kaiako who are wanting to gain a Montessori specific qualification. It would also be beneficial for Montessori kaiarahi that want to further their knowledge and expertise through masters studies.

Presenter: Raewyn Penman - Regional Education Leader Kaiārahi Mātauranga ā-Rohe and Senior Lecturer Pūkenga Matua with Te Rito Maioha
Raewyn has a deep commitment to bicultural practice, curriculum innovation, and empowering kaiako across Aotearoa. With over 40 years’ experience Raewyn brings a rich blend of practical wisdom, academic insight, and cultural responsiveness to her work. Her passion lies in supporting kaiako to engage meaningfully with Te Whāriki, fostering environments where tamariki thrive and teachers feel confident in their practice.

Programme Leader Kaiārahi Hotaka
Rachel’s teaching career spans over 25 years in various teaching, leadership and advisory roles in early childhood education. She has a particular research and teaching interest in infant and toddler learning and strives to support kaiako to develop specialised pedagogy in this area.
Tess Huggins - Lecturer Kaiako
Tess teaches the two Montessori courses in our Level 5 New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Aperfield Montessori) Te Tohu Pōkairua Mātauranga Kōhungahunga (Aperfield Montessori). Tess also teaches the Montessori focussed Masters courses. She is responsible for providing Montessori theory and curriculum.
