This face-to-face PLD series examines the role arts education can play in the curriculum areas of science, maths and technology (known as STEAM education), and enrich teachers’ own art knowledge and practice.

Saturday 4th Oct - Part 1 – Unpacking visual art education and its relation to STEAM.

Saturday 11th Oct - Part 2 – Art & Science.

Saturday 18th Oct - Part 3 – Art, Maths & Technology

The PLD is aimed at ECE kaiako and tauira/students, new entrants kaiako.

The goal of this PLD is to engage in hands-on curriculum specific practice (art, maths, science and technology) applicable to early years learners.

To enrich and nourish personal art practice and knowledge.

To experience inquiry based approaches to STEAM education through seeing relevant ECE examples.

Senior Lecturer - Victoria University of Wellington

Lisa has been involved in early childhood education for many years - as an ECE Teacher, a Senior Teacher, and as a Professional Development Adviser for the Ministry of Education. Lisa was an ECE and Primary Lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington’s Faculty of Education, School of Education for 20 years and is currently an adjunct. She is also an artist.
