Role

In her current role as lecturer kaiako, Victoria teaches the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) she also visits them on their practicums and home centres.

Education Background

Victoria has more than 20 years of experience in Early Childhood Education and has held various positions such as teacher, head teacher, and centre manager. For the last decade, Victoria has focused on empowering professional leaders and kaiako in many different roles. Including, varied Senior Advisor roles at Barnardos and SELO provider to Ministry of Education.


Research Background

Areas of interest and expertise: Culturally responsive pedagogy, Leadership, curriculum, cultures of thinking, Teacher wellbeing, Intentional teaching.

Currently researching: Understanding the importance of promoting ‘ko wai au?’ through the use of oral storytelling: Let me tell you a story.


Teaching Interests

Victoria’s teaching interests are centred around the importance of ako and fostering the skills and knowledge of students and the wider learning community. Victoria prioritises incorporating diverse perspectives and identities into the learning process and creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and encouraged to share their knowledge and thinking.
