Education Background

Marley has worked in the education sector for the majority of my professional career and have had the privilege of working alongside leading Māori academics, including Sir Professor Mason Durie, which was a significant honour. She has also gained international experience through her work at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where she was involved with a Research Centre focused on Native American communities.

Marley’s teaching philosophy is grounded in a commitment to equity and fairness, ensuring that all tauira are treated with respect and provided with equal opportunities to succeed. While she has a strong focus on improving outcomes for Māori across all sectors, her teaching approach is inclusive and centred on developing all tauira’s understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the strategic approaches that stem from it. This understanding supports the promotion of educational success for Māori as Māori, while strengthening culturally responsive practice for the benefit of all learners.
