Ali has been an early childhood kaiako for over 20 years, during this time she has held a variety of roles in different centres including centre manager and curriculum lead. Through her recent mahi with Childspace, she has been a SELO provider for many centres over the Wellington region, assisting them with achieving governance and management, curriculum and health and safety regulations. Ali has also been a PLD provider, teaching courses in self-regulation, curriculum, pathway to school and continuity of care in both NZ and Australia.

Ali has completed some study on Self-regulation through the Mehrit centre in Canada and understanding brain development and how this impacts behaviour is a particular interest of hers. Ali is also really interested in nature play, infant and toddler development, emergent curriculum and trauma informed practice. She is looking forward to hopefully starting her PHD next year, where she will likely be focusing on kaiako using self-regulation techniques in their teaching practice.
Teaching Interests
Teaching for Ali is about forming relationships with the whānau, tamariki or tauira that she is working with. She believes that it is only through strong reciprocal and respectful relationships that tauira are able to reach their full potential. Ali values honesty, empowerment and communication through her relationships with others.
