Zoe is a kaiako working in the Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) based in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa.
Education Background
Zoe has spent 16 years in primary education as a classroom teacher and lead teacher. She has been a part of a leadership team with a focus on building positive culture within kura. Zoe completed a Master in Education inquiring into how candidate teachers can be supported for the realities of the classroom.
Research Background
Zoe is particularly interested in student engagement and accelerated learning.
Teaching Interests
Zoe believes that all students will succeed in education if they are provided with a supportive and inclusive environment. Providing explicit teaching, authentic learning experiences, instilling the key capabilities and building student confidence will be the foundation for their future successes. Education is continuously evolving and Zoe believes it is important as educators that we keep an open mind, to adapt and promote the professional growth cycle. As a leader Zoe leads by example, listens, values others and collaborates by utilising strengths. “Ehara tāku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini”. She appreciate the concept of ako and recognises the importance of community, whanau and student relationships.
