Biography

Role

Tracey is the Research Leader for Te Rito Maioha (ECNZ). She has the overall responsibility for the oversight, management, and promotion of research for the organisation. Importantly, this role is to support staff with their research and ensure published outcomes inform Te Rito Maioha’s early childhood, primary and teacher education programmes.

Education background

Tracey has been involved in education for over 30 years and has experience teaching at all levels of the curriculum. Her work has included positions in primary school leadership in addition to both the University and Polytechnics sectors.

Research background

Both Tracey’s Masters and Doctoral studies focussed on transitions, how these can provide opportunities for professional learning and the place of leadership in transition. Her research portfolio illustrates her involvement with various education sectors and includes a broad range of topics, including her passion for coaching and mentoring emerging researchers.

Teaching interests

Tracey is passionate about improving the quality and equity of education for learners by working with educators to ensure they are well prepared to work with students, whānau, and colleagues.  At the heart of her philosophy are ako and kotahitanga - developing reciprocal, non-heirarchical relationships to shape strategies which improve educational outcomes for all learners.
