About Membership

Ngā kaupapa mema

We are a leading provider of new knowledge, fresh thinking and best practice for early childhood education.

Benefits of membership

Join Te Rito Maioha and belong to an active bicultural organisation, help shape government policy for early childhood and teacher education and keep informed with access to up-to-date information and learning opportunties!

Our membership organisation was formed in 1963 by prominent women's rights activist, politician and peace campaigner, Sonja Davies. We were also previously known as Te Tari Puna o Aotearoa New Zealand Childcare Association. For more than 55 years we have represented early childhood education services and the teachers who provide education and care to thousands of infants, toddlers and young children.

Our members are drawn from a diverse range of community-based and privately-owned ECE services, individuals, teachers, students and organisations with an interest in the ECE sector.

Together we are actively seeking to ensure our tamariki have the best beginning to their life-long learning journey.
