Intentional Teaching – Myths, Realities and Opportunities

This PLD will be an opportunity to come together to explore the concept of ‘intentional teaching’, breaking down some of the myths that exist by exploring the term, the practices it encompasses, and the opportunities it provides for teacher practice. Teaching in ECE is about more than turning up, and this PLD will provide guidance to support teachers to engage in intentional teaching practices that support them to bring Te Whariki to life every day. Wed 17 July 2024 6-8pm.  Event is gold coin donation and a non-perishable food item to be donated to Women's Refuge.

This PLD is targeted at all ECE teachers.

This PLD will enable attendees to learn about the concept of intentional teaching, including what it is and what it is not. To learn about a range of teaching strategies that can be used to support intentional teaching practices. This learning will support kaiako to return to their ECE settings with clear insight into intentional teaching and how they can enact this as outlined in Te Whāriki. 

Wednesday 17th July 2024, (meet at 5.30 for a hot beverage, workshop starts 6pm and finishes 8pm)

Monica Cameron (DipTching(ECE), BEd, EdD) has been involved in ECE for nearly 30 years as a student, teacher, PD facilitator and now in Initial Teacher Education. Her research interests focus around assessment, planning and curriculum, intentional teaching and pedagogy, evaluation and leadership.
