Operating your centre at Level 1

Now that we are in Alert Level 1, below are the key changes for your operations from Level 2. Remember, all early learning services should adhere to the Government’s golden rules.

Tamariki and whānau
There are no restrictions on personal movement – all children/tamariki can safely attend early learning services
Contact tracing registers are not required

Staff
There are no restrictions on personal movement – all staff are able to safely attend work
No physical distancing requirements for children/tamariki or staff

Hygiene
Hand sanitiser is not required, but if available, its use and location must be supervised by adults
Good hygiene practices including regular hand washing should be encouraged
Sleep furniture should be cleaned regularly
Vans can be used as normal but should be regularly cleaned

Food
Shared platters can be used and food can be supplied in accordance with public health guidance
Staggering meal breaks not required

Equipment
All outdoor equipment can be used as normal

Licensing requirements
Standard licence requirements apply to licence numbers and physical space requirements
Indoor minimum temperature returns to 16 degrees Celsius
Excursions can resume as normal
