Exploring quality infant and toddler pedagogy - Kaitaia

This workshop will share the findings of recent research which examines quality infant and toddler ECE and what this means for us as kaiako.

Kaitaia (Far North REAP) Monday 18 November 2024 - 5.30-8pm

This workshop will put a spotlight on the research and include time for reflection and hands on activities to support kaiako to explore what quality infant and toddler education could look like in their own early childhood settings. This workshop will explore:

  • Access to the latest research in infant and toddler education
  • Opportunity to reflect on and improve your infant and toddler pedagogy
  • Apply insights from research to your practice with infants and toddlers
  • Share with others the challenges faced by infant and toddler kaiako in Aotearoa New Zealand and the opportunity to brainstorm solutions.

Programme Leader Kaiārahi Hotaka

Rachel’s teaching career spans over 25 years in various teaching, leadership and advisory roles in early childhood education. She has a particular research and teaching interest in infant and toddler learning and strives to support kaiako to develop specialised pedagogy in this area.

Presenter: Debbie Woolston

Senior Lecturer Pūkenga Matua, Te Rito Maioha

Debbie Woolston is a Pūkenga Matua – Senior Lecturer at Te Rito Maioha – Early Childhood New Zealand. Debbie’s early childhood career spans nearly 40 years in the kindergarten sector in both teacher/head teacher roles and now with Te Rito Maioha ECNZ. Debbie has a passion for tauira and the practicum experiences and a keen interest in infant and toddler wellbeing and practice and will be supporting Rachel with this PLD.
