Te Rito Maioha is offering four new programmes in 2019, in addition to our other popular programmes.

‘We are expanding what we offer people who want to gain a qualification, as well as what we offer qualified teachers,’ says Student and Administration Services Manager, Ann Trappitt.

‘We are now offering two separate programmes that will result in a New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5).

‘The first programme specialises in the Aperfield Montessori Method. This programme will be relevant to anyone considering teaching in a Montessori early childhood education centre in New Zealand or interested in this Method.

‘The second programme focuses on Pasifika education and views of the child and childhood. It will help those wanting to better understand Pasifika ways of learning, so they can respond appropriately to Pasifika children and families in early childhood education settings.’

Ann says Te Rito Maioha is also launching two new degree programmes in 2019.

‘Our new Bachelor of Education (ECE) will be of value to anyone looking to develop a broad understanding of early childhood education, both nationally and internationally. Although this is not an initial teacher education programme it does provide a pathway into our Graduate Diploma of Education (ECE) if the entry requirements for this programme are met.'

‘We have also expanded our postgraduate offering, with the launch of our Master of Education (ECE). This programme will appeal to people wanting to further their knowledge of early childhood education and explore specialist areas such as leadership, bicultural teaching practice, and infant and toddler education and care.’
