Boost your career by upgrading your ECE diploma to a degree.

This is a 1–2-year part-time programme for those with an ECE teaching diploma who would like to upgrade to a Level 7 Bachelor of Teaching (ECE). Being part-time, you can continue to work while you study for the degree, but there are no set weekly early childhood service attendance requirements.

The programme will deepen your knowledge of:
•    curriculum inquiry
•    inclusion, exclusion and marginalisation in ECE settings
•    infants and toddlers
•    mātauranga Māori
•    leadership in early childhood education.

Please note that, because this programme does not include a practicum component, it is not a pathway to  teacher registration.

Samantha Campion - Bachelor of Teaching (ECE)

Living in New Plymouth with no university nearby, Te Rito Maioha was a great option for me.

Studying with Te Rito Maioha was amazing and I highly recommend them. They have great knowledge and an awesome bicultural aspect.

Combining hands-on experience with study is a dream combination. It cements what you learn. I’d do the theory throughout the week, then I’d go to my centre where I was able to put the theory into practice straight away.
