If you have a level 7 degree already and want to teach within the ECE or primary sector we have two Graduate Diploma in Teaching degrees that can turn your degree into a career as a primary teacher or ECE teacher.
If you have completed a level 7 degree and are wanting to further your education at a higher level, we have four Postgraduate options from which to choose. The Postgraduate Diplomas are fully online while the Masters can be completed by thesis, or coursework, or a mixture of both.
The TER programme is for early childhood teachers who have not gained a full practising certificate. You need a current practising certificate for most teaching positions in New Zealand. The programme may also interest internationally qualified early childhood teachers who want to learn more about the New Zealand environment.
This part-time course is for those with an ECE teaching diploma who would like to upgrade to a Level 7 Bachelor of Teaching (ECE). Being part-time, you will be able to keep working while you study.
Scholarships, grants and loans are available to help pay for your study. There are eleven options available and a tool to help you search for other scholarships options. Check this page regularly to see if new scholarships become available.
Te Rito Maioha welcomes and supports international students who study with us here in New Zealand or offshore. Established in 1963, we have a proud history of shaping education policy and practice as an advocate and advisor to the New Zealand Government.
Our qualifications have been designed so there is a pathway from one course to another. Beginning with the Level 5 diploma, students can progress through to degree level and then on to postgraduate study if the entry criteria is met for each qualification.
We have 11 Regional Education Centres | takiwa ako around New Zealand, so take a look to see where the closest office is to you. Having eleven locations allows students to base themselves in their own community and work online or in person as required while lecturers are always available.
