Te Rito Maioha provides UCOL and ICL early childhood students with degree pathway

Te Rito Maioha is offering UCOL* and ICL** students completing their respective New Zealand Diplomas in Early Childhood Education and Care the opportunity to pathway into Te Rito Maioha’s Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), reducing the degree by a year to two years of study.

‘Following careful analysis, we are really happy to offer UCOL and ICL students this option because their diplomas align with our degree, particularly in terms of bicultural content and practicum requirements,’ says Te Rito Maioha Academic Leader Undergraduate Programmes, Graeme Severinsen.

‘With the ECE teacher shortage, we think this is a great opportunity, especially as people studying for our Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) "earn while they learn", thanks to our requirement that students work in a licensed ECE centre for at least 12 hours a week to gain experience.

‘The high level of practical experience also makes our graduates popular with ECE employers, so it’s definitely a win-win.’
