Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand is excited to announce the theme, keynote speakers, dates and venue for its re-vamped and re-energised 2020 conference.

‘The theme of our conference is, Our Teachers, Our Future | A mātou kaiako, tō mātou ao apōpō.

‘This reflects that it is mostly for teachers and educators and will be future-focused: the future of the early childhood education (ECE) profession, our tamariki and their whānua, and New Zealand society,’ says Te Rito Maioha Chief Executive, Kathy Wolfe.

‘In addition, 2020 is going to be a pivotal year, with implementation of the Early Learning Strategic Plan and Education Workforce Strategy, and Teaching Council changes to initial teacher education.

‘We want to help teachers navigate the changes, identify the opportunities and be confident.  We also want our conference to make the most of modern technology, be highly interactive and really be a wow event for the ECE sector.’

Keynote speakers for the 2020 conference are:

Nadia Lim
Mother and nutritionist

Kathryn Berkett
Neuroscience and brain development

Mere Berryman
Kaupapa Māori

Marc Battle
Men in ECE and emergent curriculum for early learners

The dates for Te Rito Maioha’s 2020 conference are Friday 3 April, Saturday 4 April and Sunday 5 April 2020.  The conference will start late on the Friday afternoon with a Pōwhiri and networking over kai, and end mid-afternoon on the Sunday.  Based on feedback, this will help people with their travel.

The new Lower Hutt Events Centre in Wellington has been chosen as the venue.  Lower Hutt is well-served by public transport from Wellington’s airport and train station and offers several good value accommodation options.

The venue also offers plenty of scope to make the conference something special, using the three separate areas, modern design and technology, and natural light to maximum effect.

We look forward to welcoming you at our re-vamped and re-energised 2020 Conference. Register your interest by clicking on the button below.
