Te Whatu Pōkeka is a Kaupapa Māori Assessment of learning framework, that when implemented authentically and meaningfully, is an effective key tool in viewing tamariki learning through a Te Ao Māori and whakapapa lens.
This webinar is intended for those who require a basic introduction to Te Whatu Pōkeka. It illustrates the fundamental factors that shape what assessment is from a Māori perspective – looking at whānau and whakapapa as a crucial part of observation in early learning.

Born into a whānau of teachers it was only natural to follow the same path, however unlike the rest of my teaching whānau I decided on the most important stage of a child’s journey, their early childhood. I have been teaching within the Early Childhood sector for over 15 years.
